~Ripple afghan~

Happy Friday people! I hope you all have pulled through another week all right!
My family has lived in the same house my entire life. I have never moved in all my 23 years. This house is also 60 years old, at least. That being said it has been under some form of renovation the entire time my family has lived in it. The next project on the renovation agenda is to create a bathroom and closet for my room. As you can imagine I am super excited.
I have been keeping in mind different design ideas, when I saw (on Pinterest, of course) the color pallet I wanted. That is when I decided to crochet an afghan with these colors for my new living space.
I purchased the yarn and got to work. I originally was planning to do a blunt chevron stitch but then decided to do a ripple pattern (mostly because of laziness). I am please so far. I can't wait to see all of the colors together!
Have a wonderful weekend!
God bless,

Photographs

I decided to post some photos I took during the Holidays. As I mentioned previously, I did little crocheting.
The fist two pictures are of our family's new addition; Mr. Amos. I found him on November 17, abandoned and sick with his eyes matted shut and the worst cold I have every seen an animal have. He couldn't have been more than 4 weeks old. The plan was to nurture him over the weekend and then take him to the animal shelter, knowing that he had a good chance of finding a home due to his age and it being so near to Christmas.
Well, that didn't happen. He found a spot in our hearts. But he isn't as gentle as he may appear. He is a little crazy, and loves to wrestle with anything close to him, even our 50 lb beagle. But he is a cutie.
I spent December 26-31 in Iowa with family. It was an adventure for me since I am a North Carolinian and hardly ever see snow or feel bitter cold. I had lots of fun and lots of laughs.
Have a wonderful & blessed day!

Cable Stitch Beanie

I found this inexpensive crochet hat and scarf book in Wal-Mart a couple of months back. This beanie is the first project I finish from the book, it is also my first cable stitch attempt. I really enjoy it. It is super cute! This hat is done with Vanna's Choice dusty blue. Yesterday I started another one in a red wool yarn. Exciting!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
God bless!

Welcome, 2013!

Hello there! It has been a while.
I am recovering from the tornado that is known as the Holidays, and am settling into my regular routine, once again.
I have to admit that I have spent very little time crocheting since Thanksgiving. And to be honest, I didn't really feel like crocheting. With my mind focused on family, friends, Church, gifts, trips, planning, and flying, there was no room in my mind for crochet. I had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's. Loved spending time with friends and family. One gift that I am super excited about is my new camera; a Nikon D3100! Look out for some photos!
But I am starting to feel more like my old hooking self. I have this idea for a chevron/ripple afghan. This will be for my bed.
I hope to be posting projects soon.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year!
God bless!

Instagram Photos

I am very thankful that there are still plenty of fall covers hanging around. I know once they are gone they will be missed.
I can't believe Thanksgiving is only a week away! I don't understand how time moves so quickly.
Well, in crochet news; I found a very simple bow pattern on bobwilson123's YouTube channel. You can watch the video here. As you can see in the picture I posted at the top, I put the bow on a teddy bear. I think was a cute little touch.
Have a blessed day!

25 squares down.. 77 to go?

Slowly, but surely, there has been some progress made on my afghan. If I stick to my original plan, I am a third of the way finish. But I will play it by ear.
Have a wonderful and blessed weekend!

A Month of Thanks

Can you believe we have reached November? I don't know why I am always shock at how quickly it arrives every year. Everyone talks about how time flies everyday.
But I do love this time of year. I love the crispness in the air, the clear skies, and of course the wonderful colors. Another reason I love this season is because of Thanksgiving. It is one of my favorite Holidays. I love food and fellowship. And it is wonderful to dedicate a day to remembering what we are thankful for. I should keep this mindset year round, but unfortunately I do have to be reminded.
I know I felt thankful this morning. My alarm sounded off and I awoke slightly confused due to it still being so dark and cold this morning. I pushed snooze, as always, and cuddled close to my little dog, Owen. I definitely know it is cold because he is snuggled up to me much closer and harder than usual. It crosses my mind how blessed I am to have a cosy, warm bed to sleep in. I am thankful for the love I have for my friends and family, and the love they have for me. I realize that I am without a need. And most of all, I am thankful for Christ and what he did for me.
Here are some photos from the past week or two:

I hope everyone has a wonderful November. What are you thankful for?
God bless!
